Berenson's 'Lists', for many years past a standard work of reference indispensable to all those seriously interested in Italian Renaissance Painting, have now been revised and brought up to date. Attributions have been checked and in some cases changed, newly discovered pictures have been added, changes in ownership have been noted, and a number of less well known painters have been included. Tlie present edition is about a third longer than the Lists of 1932 and 1936, and is the first to contain a wealth of illustrations, arranged in chronological and systematic order, thus giving the volumes an encyclopaedic character.
